What to Expect
Following the completion of a digital intake form, treatment begins with a one-on-one discussion regarding your needs, goals, and injuries and conditions, including circumstances of their onset or term where relevant. A physical assessment will also be performed through various methods, such as testing muscles in isolation for individual performance, and both active and passive range of motion within a pain-free spectrum to determine joint mobility and/or systematic muscular or broad fascial tension. For this reason, it is recommended that clients to wear or bring loose or stretchy clothing to their sessions.
Based on this information -- both per-session and with the context of previous sessions -- the practitioner will communicate their ideas and intentions on how to proceed, and which techniques will be used towards treatment and why, working within the client's comfort levels. For example, treatment may call only for direct tension relief on specific muscles and myofascial release, while others may be a combination of massage, mobilizations, stretching, and/or work directed towards the nervous system. We believe in and have personally observed that bodywork does not need to hurt in order to be effective, and as such, the practitioner will check-in often regarding pressure to ensure it remains within a reasonable threshold of discomfort and painlessness.
Time may be reserved at the end of a session for the practitioner to communicate observations, provide education, and suggest possible self-help techniques and client self-education where applicable.
